We both grew up in north county, San Diego, just a few miles apart. Caroline was a horse girl from the start, whereas Justin preferred something with a little more horsepower!

As luck would have it, we both got into Northwestern and we packed our bags for Chicago! Our next chapter was filled with exploring all Northwestern had to offer – from nights in Chicago, to cheering on the Wildcats at the Big Ten Championship.

We first met in 7th grade on the Bishop’s School bus that took us to and from La Jolla every day. Both of our parents were confused when we consistently refused their generous offers to drive us all the way to La Jolla — it didn’t take them long to figure out why we were both so eager to take the bus!
Sparks started to fly in 8th and 9th grade, when we went on a few group “dates.” After crushing on each other for a few years, at Winter Formal our sophomore year we became “official” on November 29, 2012!

Summers spent back in San Diego with good friends (who would later be in our wedding parties!) reminded us just how much we still loved California.

After graduation, our careers took us to different cities. Caroline shipped off to Washington, DC to work for the government while Justin began his medicine/research journey in Chicago. We made our relationship work with lots of trips to see each other – including to Paris, Spain, and Big Sur.

After a few years of long distance, in January 2025 Justin proposed to Caroline on a rooftop in Buenos Aires, Argentina after a week-long trip with good friends! We can’t wait to get married in the Bishop’s Chapel, the site of so many memories, and start our next chapter together in Chicago (right after Caroline finishes a quick stint in Dubai for work).
